How to read NCERT effectively for UPSC

HOW TO READ NCERT FOR UPSC-

NCERT's are the core or backbone to clear UPSC(Union Public Service Commission) civil services examination.

You should read NCERT books at least 7-8 times minimum.
While reading NCERT books you should keep few things in mind-
  • Don't take these books as a burden, as these books are the most important books which you can't avoid if you want to clear this exam.
  • 1st reading should be like novel reading.
  • 2nd reading should be more concentrated.
  • At the time of 3rd and 4th you should focus on understanding what are NCERT's concepts.
  • 5th,6th and 7th reading should be focused on the key terms and the concepts areas like definitions, meanings and concepts etc.
It depends on the person that in how many times he/she understands the book.
Some will understand everything in 2-3 readings while some will take 9-10 readings. So it depends on you.

Good luck.
