MISSION EUROPA

NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration) got approval to study Jupiter's moon EUROPA. NASA(National Aeronautics and Space Administration) officially declared that they are working on EUROPA CLIPPER which will be sent to space to study Europa(moon).
As we all know that Jupiter is the largest planet of our solar system. Jupiter has 79 moons (Saturn has 62 moons but officially named are 53).
Amount of 4.25 billion dollars(in Indian rupee 30,000 crore approx) will be invested in it.

Galileo Galilei (also called father of modern physics)was an Italian astronomer, physicist and scientist.
Galileo Galilei
He studied skies with his telescope and also famous for his telescope discoveries. He studied Jupiter a lot and in 1610 he told us that Jupiter has 4 massive moons-

  • IO
  • Europa
  • Ganymede (largest moon of our solar system and the biggest natural satellite)
  • Callisto

These moons are recognized by him as satellites of Jupiter. These moons are also called Galilean moons.

Europa is also called as a mysterious planet because some researchers found ice on it and it may have oceans inside its icy part  and may have possibilities that it has aquatic life in it but not confirmed.

Europa clipper will be sent to Europa(moon) by 2023.
